The New Plate Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has created a new single-day production record by rolling 3423 Tonnes of Slabs and 3110 Tonnes of Plates on 16th April 2017. The previous record of rolling of 3214 Tonnes of Slabs and 2957 Tonnes of plates was set on 9th November 2016. Mr. Ashwini Kumar, CEO, RSP visited the Mill along with Mr. Subhendra Das, ED (Works) and congratulated the Mill Collective on the splendid success. 
Expressing his happiness over the consistent improvement being achieved by the New Plate Mill on various fronts, the CEO urged the New Plate Mill collective to gear up from the beginning of the financial year to achieve the annual target while simultaneously improving the quality and yield. 
It is worth mentioning here that the 4.3 metre wide New Plate Mill of RSP established as part of the latest phase of modernisation and expansion has been scaling new heights of success in every field of endeavour. Established to cater to the niche segments of the Plate market both domestic as well as off-shore, the state-of-the-art New Plate Mill can produce a wide range of plates with close tolerances to meet stringent international standards.
